When a Regional Golf Association
wished to change its handicap service vendor back in
the 1980's Golf Handicap and Information Network was
given the role. It provides a quality service to maintain
handicaps and was organized and developed by the spring
of 1981 and provided handicap computation services initially
for one Regional Golf Association, the New York's Metropolitan
Golf Association.
It has now become the
world's largest handicap computation service. The Golf
Handicap and Information Network (GHIN) is provided
through 60 State and Regional Golf Associations to nearly
9,700 clubs and approximately two million golfers. GHIN
is maintained and backed by the United States Golf Association
and the staff is composed of employees of the USGA.
