Introduction to Thirsk racecourse
Thirsk is set between the North Yorkshire
Moors and the Dales, with easy access from road or rail. It
is a friendly course, compact yet with excellent facilities
throughout. The circuit is a little more than a mile round
and such is the design that the racing never seems far from
wherever you are viewing.
Thirsk racecourse has steadily improved
standards and now offers even more prize money which attracts
good class horses from all over the country.
The on the course catering facilities
are excellent with bar menus from buffets to silver service
available, to suit budget and taste. To reserve a table for

The Manton Suite
The first floor of the Manton Suite is available for
reservations on a race day. Tables for a minimum of ten, or
in multiples of ten up to 120 guests, can be reserved in advance

Marquee sites
There are Marquee sites at Thirsk racecourse available
opposite the winning post and adjacent to the Parade Ring
and Winner's Enclosure. Marquees can be arranged for parties
of 30 upwards, situated adjacent to the Parade Ring and Winners
Enclosure, with Tote, CCTV, bar and catering facilities.
Directions to the Thirsk racecourse
Road
From the south (A1),
take the A168 at Dishforth. After 6 miles take the B1448 to
Thirsk. At the mini-roundabout, turn left past Tesco and the
Thirsk racecourse is on the right.
From the north (A1) follow
signs for Thirsk. Enter Thirsk from the west along the A61.
The racecourse is on the left about half a mile past the railway
station.
From Teesside, turn off the
A19 for Thirsk, then go through the town centre, leaving on
the A61 for Ripon. (Follow any specific signs for race traffic).
At the mini roundabout beyond the town cente, turn right past
Tesco and the racecourse is on your right.
From York (A19) go straight
on at the first roundabout approaching Thirsk, then left at
the second roundabout, through the town centre.
From Scarborough (A170), keep
straight on at the roundabout and follow signs Ripon (A61)
through the town centre as 3 (above).
Rail
Thirsk railway station is
half a mile from the course. There is a regular service direct
from Manchester, Leeds, York and Middlesbrough. Passengers
using East Coast Main Line sevices should change at York ,
coming from the south and Darlington or Northallerton, rom
the north.
