Introduction to the Pontefract racecourse
The racing programme at Pontefract racecourse
has been greatly improved in recent years. The motorway links
provide good communications not only with local training centres
but also with other major training centres in the Country,
notably Newmarket, with the result in competitive and entertaining.

The Pontefract racecourse caters for all
requirements, whether it be the occasional racegoer who wants
the exclusivity and luxury of the Club or the modest cost,
but excellent value of the Third Enclosure. Annual MembershipFor
the regular visitor offers all year round club facilities
at an excellent discount.
Every race day at Pontefract racecourse there
is a CCTV System in operation on with Televisions in all bars
and refreshment areas. There are modern Tote facilities and
kiosks throughout the stands. There is an off-course Betting
Office in the Paddock and Second Enclosure and a children's'
playground in the Third Enclosure.
There are discounts for all enclosures for
those who wish to bring parties or club together in groups,
and not all members of a party need go into the same enclosure.
Children under 16 and Party Organisers are admitted free,
except in the Private Entertainment Facilities ant the course.
Anyone (or company) wishing to have their
own reserved area there is a choice of Private Boxes and Rooms,
a Large Entertainment Suite and smart Chalet Marquees. There
are also reserved dining facilities in the Park Suite. All
are excellently positioned and well appointed.
Location
The racecourse of Pontefract
is ideally situated for access, the entrance being only half
a mile from junction 32 of the M62. The M62 passes the northern
side of the track and links with the A1, M1 and M18 within
10 miles of the racecourse.
Racecourse facilities and hospitality
Facilities at Pontefract for Private Entertainment
are as good at as on any comparable Racecourse. There is a
choice between:-
The Dalby Stand Private Boxes
These are situated above the Club Stand entrance facing
down the finishing straight and with views over the Parade
Ring. There are eight Boxes, four on the first floor and four
on the second floor. Each Box will seat 20 people, one box
on each floor will seat a24.
To accommodate larger parties, all
Boxes on a floor can be connected internally. Both floors
have a Tote Kiosk. There are kitchens and a lift serving all
floors.
The Private Room
in the Main Stand with direct viewing and its own box overlooking
the course. The Room will accommodate approximately 25 people
seated or, for a buffet, approximately 30.
The Entertainment Suite
This suite is adjacent to
the Dalby Stand. The Suite is a self-contained building with
its own kitchen. It has its own private lawn controlled by
an Attendant. Used as a whole it will accommodate approximately
150 people, seated, but it is capable of being divided into
four sections which can be used in a variety of combinations.
Each section will accommodate approximately 30 seated people,
a doubleChalet will accommodate approximately 60 seated people.
For Buffets, numbers can be increased accordingly.
The Chalet Marquee Units
situated overlooking the Parade Ring and in sight of the
Winning Post in a reserved area. Each Unit has its own private
lawn. All of these Marquees are lined, and fully furnished.
Each unit is designed to seat 30 people in comfort with a
Bar/Reception Area, or, for a Buffet, 50 people.
The Park Suite Restaurant
With direct access from and to the Club Stand This is
situated in the club enclosure with balconies overlooking
the Parade Ring and Unsaddling Enclosure to one side and Winning
Post at the other. The Park Suite "Package" includes:
a reserved table or seat for the day morning coffee; high
class buffet lunch; afternoon tea; (varies slightly at evening
meetings); controlled air system; CCTV and Tote betting.
