Introduction to Ludlow racecourse
History tells us that
in the fourteenth century soldiers from Ludlow Castle came
here not only to practice archery but also to match their
horses. There is certainly a record of racing dating back
to 1729.
The race course retains not only its Edwardian
character but also its Club atmosphere. Though now a National
Hunt course, it did not have jumping until the mid-nineteenth
century .
Today, Owners and Trainers from all
over the Country come to race their horses over the same ground.
